Today I just wanted a rest from my work...So having walked down into town and bought a couple of books i've been meaning to read ('The Road' by Cormac McCarthy and 'The Witch of Portobello' by Paulo Coehlo) I thought it's time to sit back and enjoy some good sounds. Regular readers will know what that means!!...yes, an eight minute song. This time by Pendragon...it's taken from the album 'The Masquerade Overture' and is called appropriately enough: 'Paintbox'Here are the lyrics.....enjoy.
Painting pictures of a thousand different paths
We sketch an outline of a love that hopes to last
Casting a wand over imaginary hopes
And close our eyes so we don't fell the ebb and flow
And paintbox you are my only hope
Of covering the faded past and starting out once more
With a fortune in new colours new hopes to inspire
I paint the path I want to take and paint a life of fire
Marking out our lives full of different plans
Excitedly we hold the key to change our hearts and hands
We climb the hill to see if green fields lie beyond
Only to realise they've faded now and gone
And paintbox you are my only hope
Of covering the faded past and starting out once more
With a fortune in new colours new hopes to inspire
I paint the path I want to take and paint a life of fire
Painting pictures of a thousand different paths
We sketch an outline of a love that hopes to last
Casting a wand over imaginary hopes
And close our eyes so we don't fell the ebb and flow
And paintbox you are my only hope
Of covering the faded past and starting out once more
With a fortune in new colours new hopes to inspire
I paint the path I want to take and paint a life of fire

I enjoyed The Road immensely, though "enjoyed" doesn't seem quite the right word. I'll just say it continues to stay with me, in that miserable pleasure sort of way.
Julie...
I know you have a connection to the road' becuase you said they were filming near to where you live...(i think Vigo Mortenson: Aragorn from Lord of the rings is playing the lead)..I've read a good chunk already....a beautifully written apocolyuptic vision of a world that could be...a warning to us all!
A leisure day, I like the sound of that!
Simply beautiful Niall. Loved it.Am adding it to my favourite videos on orkut.
Thanks for sharing this.
Hello!
I also loved this book! Do you know Paulo Coelho is launching this experiment where he is inviting his readers to adapt the book to the screen?
Check it out : http://paulocoelhoblog.com/experimental-witch/
Have a great day
