Jigsaw - 28

I was visited this morning by a very nice man who kindly went out of his way to see my artwork.I'm not sure what he thought of my work as he stayed for only a short while and didn't seem too interested. He did say that the gallery was booked up 12 months in advance and he also said that he didn't think I merited a solo exhibition but could probably be incorporated in a group showing. I'm not totally surprised really as my work is usually viewed as a bit of a gimmick or curiosity..not really serious art. This thought tends to haunt me most of the time and I do tend to ask myself if I'm not actually deluding myself thinking I can make a go of being an artist.
As you will know by now...I'm down today, but I should be back up tomorrow!

As one of the many admirers of your work, it is “serious” enough for me: It is wonderful, unique and an expression of your individuality. Any gallery owner should be thankful to have it exposed.
Don't let others spoil the great time you spend on it, and especially your freedom, with their schedule as tigh as their mind...

Backpacking the blogosphere today, stumbled across yours, and WOW. Just wow. I'm an artist too, but now I feel nothing more than a doodler looking at 'YOUR' work...LOL.

Paulo...Thanks, that means a lot.I hate being knocked back, as we all do I guess. The trick is to take it on the chin and use it to generate a desire to progress...

NOT SERIOUS ART! Piffle! Your art is nothing short of absolutely bludy amazing! i love that you are expressing your art in YOUR way because THAT is what serious art is (In my book anyway!) Chin up, as my mum used to say when she was in real estate, get all the 'knock backs' out of the way first because they are a fact of life, just as are the successes ... Just tick them off and keep moving forward towards your dreams X:-)

every new way of looking and representing art was treated like gimmick once...cubism, abstract...anything other than realism and reniessence..u r a pioneer...pls dont give up based on wht a gallery guy says...hes a salesman not an artist...hes the seller not the creater, so his priorities are different..

have a drink...but get up and do wht u do best...for whatever its worth, i love ur painting

It doesn't sound to me as though he has knocked you back. In my experience a gallery will often offer you a group show first to see how you sell. It is not a rejection.
