Sinodd - 18 + holiday

Well...I'm back! Had a few days away in North Berwick staying with our friends Kay and her son Joe...John was unable to be there due work commitments. was a lovely break. I've not published any photos from there, but here a re a couple I took on the way home yesterday...the sculpture is known as The Angel of the North. It was designed by English artist  Anthony Gormley and is visible from the A1 motorway as you travel north towards Newcastle ( or indeed if you're coming the other way!) We stopped at the picnic area to have a bite to eat on our journey home.

Glad you had a good break. We all need to recharge now and then. I love this drawing, so much going on and that chimp is amazing.

The Angel of the North is very striking. I know in Somerser they have (or had) Willow Man or something similar. Was it a trend at a particular time to put up large scale sculpture in different counties? In Canada we seem to get giant vegetables! :)

Fresh from your break!

I've always thought that Angel of the North was a little creepy, but it's not much different from any Christ with the arms open kind of statue. It certainly has its impact, greeting the travellers.
