I still believe that the 'Nude' is as pure an expression of line and form that one can aspire to depicting correctly.It is the basis of all an artists discipline.I have toyed with the concept of a self portrait nude..not for any reasons of vanity since the ravages of time , fatherhood and sitting at a drawing table every day for two years have taken their toll..but this is the point of self portraiture ..to show the 'real' you. The yarn looks very "arterial". It looks to me that the yarn had been knitted at one time, and then withdrawn, ravelled.
Julie..I think you are correct there Julie..it's a bit like me!
I thought that the yarn was more like the arteries in our own body! I guess I analyzed the picture at deeper level! :D It looks kinda like a person examining themselves - one artery/vein at a time

Vidya..Both you and Julie have certainly uncovered somehing about this metaphore which is very personal to me..I am finding this to be quite a moving experience!
Have been following this picture diligently,but refrained from commenting so far.While the picture is simply brilliant, in terms of the image, the metaphor etc,--personally I hate it!It disturbs me.It makes me want to see you smile again.I feel like taking away that ball of wool and throwing it far far way,so that you don't have to untangle it anymore.

Preeti...I hold your opinion as being most important. you are a plane speaker, and that is something I have told you that I admire and like about you. So no I am not offended.Where would the integrity of the artist be if he censored out all negative reviews in favour of ego polishing remarks?..
The depiction of myself is not meant to be a happy one..at least at the moment of concept..it is to show the inner turmoil which often rages within me as I grapple with the complexities of life. There is yet to be a few more surprises in this one yet..dare I say some humour..all will be revealed!

Prats...It was involved in a sweater once!..Not many people know this Prats..but I'm actually a very experienced knitter with a wardrobwe full of crazy stuff I did in the early 1990's..I can design my own patterns too!
