I juggled with roses,grass,nothing..but settled on Globe Thistles (Echinops) to clutter the foreground. These will continue across the picture..I'll do the tennis girls legs as I pass!I still have work to do on 'Dark Clown's' face and robe, but will wait to see what he looks like surrounded by thistles.

The picture here shows what a gorgeous sight they are around this time of year.I remember seeing a long railway embankment of them when I was in Scotland last year. They have a fine and dynamic presence! It is again an example of how I love contrasts of texture in my pictures, metal trains, soft flesh, hard stares, fluffy clouds, gentle shadows, prickly thistles...

Globe thistles (hearing that name for the first time)look so beautiful..both in the photo(am presuming its a photo and not something you drew) and the picture.Isnt life a lot like that--full of contrasts? (at least mine has been)
Globe thistles are wonderful...there are various varieties, some only 6 - 12 inches tall..some (the best ones!) are around30 inches tall. When you see a large area covered by them..all you see is a hazy blue mist !!!
