Absurdities - 6

I'm back!...having had a few days off it's great to get back to work. It's been slow going since I started this picture only a week ago..but I know where it's going and what I have to do..

I had to laugh yesterday as a government enquiry has identified that children in the UK are failing in mathematics. Schools are to have their own 'Maths champions': teachers who are trained specialists . A BBC news reporter went out into a busy high street to ask members of the public to solve a basic maths problem...in this case it was : What is 20% of £2.00?...one lady replied after studying the problem: "oo don't ask me things like that...when it come to numbers I'm 'illiterate'!".......oh dear oh dear!

The worst part is they probably know how to do it but they're simply mentally lazy. And that's what Maths are better for, making our minds sharper and better at thinking. It's a shame. But find me a country that is good at Maths...

I can relate to "math anxiety". I don't like to be put on the spot. I can hardly read my watch when someone comes up and asks me what time it is, I get so nervous. I hate people. I wish they would stop asking me questions. Especially the one about how much money I owe them. Tedious.

DM...It's funny, but that's what my teachers used tyo say to me: " you're quite capable..you just can't be bothered"..actually, when I eventually became bothered..I found I wasn't capable!..ahahah!

Julie...It's true..I hate examination situations...you know when you watch a TV quiz..one always knows the answers..but when the spot light is on you..it all seems to desert ones brain.
