Finished Balcony.

Balcony
Derby Westfield Centre opening day 9-10-07.
(October 2008)
25 x 11 cm.
I'm proud to present the finished picture..and for once I'm happy with the reproduction here of the colours.I've had to fiddle around with the settings on my digital camera programme , but this is as close to the way they look .

I'm going to spend the rest of the day taking things easy....work on my sketches and ideas, and if they don't look as if they're ready to work on just yet, i'll get something else up and running.

Thank you for your comments.I guess by now you reralise that there are two types of pictures I create. The first being such as Balcony..which are the more commercial works. I know that I can et prints made and they will sell. The second is my surreal/fantasy type pictures which i enjoy doing above all...but they don't sell.I'm gateful that i can do both...but a big big part of it all is interacting with you and my readers , being able to share my work as it develops...My readers have always played a significant part in influencing my inspiration...and at times when i've found the process of work difficult..there have been some lovely people there to encourage me .So thank you for following this piece...on to the next!

I like the creases in the clothes of those people. It's really clever :)
And you're right, they are trusting the builders of that rail.

PD...I find it very hard not be working on something, even if it's only sketching..I know it sounds a little melodramitic, but every moment lost can never be regained..I have to work.

DM...Thank you!Clothes are difficult to get right..I always remember a tutor telling me that the important thing about drawing clothing is to give the viewer the feeling that there is a body underneath...The rail is actually very stable...I don't think i've represented it here very well, but below the rail is very thick plate glass..
