First off:..I'm sorry I was not able to post yesterday..my daughter Annie has been laid low with a virus. So we kept her home from school . Jan was out all day so I spent most of the time with Annie. At the start of a new picture, I like to have a good period of time to establish what I'm doing and 'get my eye in ' getting used to the development of contrasting areas of shadow and light. I was not able to do this yesterday.
Today has been a little better..though Jan is away on an acting job all day. However..unlooked for moments present themselves...I sat in the coffee shop at the Derby dance Studio where Annie was taking part in her class (she felt much better today)..it doubles as a gallery, and around the walls hung large canvases with oil paintings of stylised figures..I liked them and found myself full of a need to create my own.(when I move to my studio it will happen!).
I spent a while this afternoon working and now have taken Annie to her friend's birthday party. So I'm taking advantage of the quiet to post this!! I'm feeling very humbled by the number of you who are leaving comments..I'm sorry if I don't comment on all of them. but I'd like to assure you, that each of the things you say really find a home in my heart and spur me on to create..I feel like a sponge sometimes, and as you know, a sponge can only hold so much before it has to leak all over the place...OK, a rather gross analogy forming here, so I'll leave it!..but you get the picture?...

Hope Annie is okay now.Tell her Atul and Purvi sent lots of love. The doggie she gave goes to bed every night with them. They havent yet named him.
You're moving into a studio? That's exciting. I'd love to have a studio, nevermind the fact that I don't paint and whatever I do doesn't take up much space ;)
Hope Annie's fully recovered.
Oh and I forgot to add on my email that absinthe is gross :P
Annie smiles when we talk about Purvi and Atul..she considers them to be her 'Special Friends'whom one day she wants to visit!
I hope Annie is feeling much better now. I was laid low with a virus for over a week. Unfortunately it was for the duration of Preeti's stay in the UK so I missed seeing her.
I figured you would be a great observer of people :) I'm looking forward to seeing how this will come out.
DM.. I intend to make my own judgement on the Absinthe!
BK..I LOVE people watching...I could do it all day.
Thank you both for your concern over Annie...She's much better now and will be going to school on Monday!
Nice to hear that Annie is better and will be getting back to school. It can be tough with kids who are unwell.. Nice to see progress on this piece...it is coming out to be very interesting
