Nelson's 4 - Annie The Hero.

Work continues well today seeing me manage a good chunk of time..(5 hours) on the additional figures.I'm really enjoying things as they are just now with the colours having a luminance brighter than some I've done recently. Other good news saw Jan having a phone call from a man who runs an acting agency in London called PR Players who provide actors for corporate training, psychiatric role play...offering her work!..She has her first job working for them next week in Sheffield.

Annie The Hero

I thought you should know that something exciting happened last night. As it was getting dark, Annie came running into the house to tell me that the house across the road from us was on fire.Sure enough..there were flames billowing up on the inside of the kitchen window. Whilst I ran to hammer on the door to see if anyone was in, Jan telephoned the fire brigade then mobilised the neighbours to move their cars so the fire engine could get close to the house. My oldest son Sam and I realised there was nobody at home..or if there was, then they were probably overcome with the smoke which was quickly filling the house. Before the firemen arrived, the flames appeared to decrease. Looking through the window I could see it was a saucepan which had been left with a light under it on the gas cooker. You can see in the picture to the right of the wall there is a small door and window..you can still see the flames inside if you enlarge the photo.

The firemen broke in through the front door and extinguished the flames. Goodness only knows what would have happened if Annie hadn't noticed it!...So, Annie the hero!

I'm sorry the neighbours haven't thanked Annie yet. I guess they must be really devastated.
How scary ...

Annie was great!!! :)
What an amazingly pretty picture of a small crowd you've been doing, Kneel. I think your hyperrealist tiny details are riveting. This time everyone's legs movements get me staring and admiring. I love the colours on the whole, too.
Have a great week.

I just mentioned to atul and purvi this morning what Annie did, and purvi immediately said "MY friend".She was so proud! Are the neighbours aware that it was Annie who alerted you?Maybe they are not.If i lived around you I would mention it to them, because it would mean a lot to the child.

Oops... sorry for misspelling your name. Since you taught how to say it, the mind "hears" while typing, oh well :)

Well done Annie - there is a deeper underlying certainty that she knew something was wrong and did exactly the right thing about it. Something that, as parents we all hope our children will do. Don't get too stressed about the neighbors not running round to thank Annie we know she didn't do it for that, but sometimes we adults forget the important things

Prats..she was my hero before too!

DM..To date they haven't even mentioned it!

Jonice..Kneel? (that's what I do, not what i'm called!just ask Jan!) :-))

PS..I think Annie's moved on now..it was all in a day's work for her!

Tys..Dubai!..I'll be there tomorrow!..but seriously, we could all do with a little more neighbourliness..too many people blame the government and Police for the breakdown of society..I blame the ever more fragmented communities in which we live.

Jonice..:-)

Alan..Yes..we do..and sometimes giving a child the recogniton for doing something right. We're pretty quick to point out when they've done something wrong!
