Next week i'm exhibiting as part of the Wirksworth Arts Festival, and will be based at the Steeple Grange Light Railway (will post links later in the week).. I've decided i'll produce a little series of little pictures which will be available to buy as originals..each picture is 8x5 cm! I've begun with this tree, then a few more trees and then who knows?..perhaps even some abstract!

How much will they cost? ;) (or is that a bad question?)
It's not a bad question, It's something many artists find hard,to apply a cost to their work. However, when I applied for funding from Arts Council England, they told me that I should calculate the amount based on their figures as to what an artist would on average earn for a days work. I don't know what it translates as Euros, but they reckoned at £170 per day. An hourly rate therefore works out around £20. Therefore the Lady In Red picture on that basis would cost £1340....then of course, if I became famous, i could add a few noughts on!
I imagine it is very subjective but it's nice that they gave you some ideas.
20 an hour sounds reasonable, but your work is so detailed and precise...it's different from other art forms...
DM...You are absolutely right..people buy art not for the hourly rate but for the concept and the evocation it brings...
