An afternoon at Arboretum House.
A group of eight six and seven year olds sat nervously drawning a glum looking 96 year old lady this afternoon. When the old lady realized they had sat down especially to draw her, a smile as wide as the sky erupted over her face. I have been visiting the residents for around six weeks now and never so much as raised a look from this smiling creature I saw before me. She became animated, laughing and bright. The bent and withered frame within which she resided became irrelevant, as she now spent time in communion with childhood. She asked one girl how old she thought she was.."Six!" said little Jade. How being with children makes the years fall away..Ninety of them to be precise!
