TLIR 2 - 7Hrs 35

I have worked on strengthening the contrasts, putting in the parked bicycles and extending the picture upwards to include leaves. I've only worked for four hours on this today as it involves a high level of concentration..and there have been plenty of distractions. This seems odd to say since Jan and the kids are still away camping in Wales and won't be back until late tomorrow evening. My friend 'Devilmood' who writes the Blog : 'Love Is Stronger Than Pride' ( which I recommend you to visit) wonders along with me why more couples don't take holidays apart. Jan is very happy taking Sam Will and Annie camping, and I am happy getting a few days of total quiet to draw and taste wine (he euphemistically quips!)....

I must take this opportunity to answer those who have questioned why I'm not 'famous'..In truth, i don't want to be famous..just able to take my responsibility in my family and earn enough to pay the bills. I've waited all my life for the time I'm having now having been made redundant from my work as Residential Social Worker of many years....it was the kick I needed, and without it, I wouldn't have been able to embark on the work I am now doing.

Life often throws a surprise or two..often we can't see the reasons why at the time, but if you can grasp an opportunity (blind ignorance is often needed) and take a step into the dark..you can change things...the only barrier is fear!...as a favourite author of mine (Frank Herbert) wrote in his book 'Dune'.."Fear is the mind killer..I will let it approach, I will face it and I will let it pass over me, and I will continue"(paraphrased )..but the essence is there. What do you dream of?....what are you waiting for?

Oh, no need for publicity, Niall ;) hehe
What a good twist and turn that kick from the job was. A complete blessing in disguise!

Yes it was..at the time it didn't feel like it! It was in fact THE best job I've ever had...wonderful people to have as colleagues..the day we were told that it was to close, i felt a deep deep sadness..but that was only the start of what has become the thing I've dreamt of since I was a child. I remember at school I only wanted to do two things when I 'grew up'..the first was to be an Artist, the second was to be a jet fighter pilot. One out of two ain't bad!

Life does spring you surprises--but looking back one realiss that whatever happened happened for the best!
Heading over to devil mood's in a while :-)
I cannot even imagine taking a holiday without Satish and the kids or a holiday with just me and the kids.(I have gone once and HATED it and missed him all the time) I guess it is because he travels so much.We have been apart such a lot that we really treasure the time we get--together.

I am waiting for the Lady in Red! :D It is the universal truth that you cannot wear red and not be not noticed! It takes a lot of courage to pull of red. Seeing your talent, I am waiting to see how the lady turns out.

In response to your thought, I LOVE the idea of couples taking separate vacations every once in a while. It helps to recharge the batteries. I personally believe that a man or a woman should have a life outside his/her spouse's lives too! That difference would keep them together. At least that is what would work for me! :D

Vidya....I've been thinking about your comments regarding red and my inclusion in the picture of 'The Lady In Red'..in my photo she was quite distant relatively so I think I'm going to give her a slightly more prominent possition ie bring her closer to the viewer..so thanks for that! however..I don't envisage I'll attempt the figure for a few days yet until i've established more of the area I'm working on..it is true that sometimes I work on different areas of a picture at the same time, especially if it's a large compossition..anyway..I'll see..one thing that's for sure..I can always change my mind .....

A bit of quietness in the house is something I also welcome once in a while.
I like what you wrote about fear, Niall.
And I knew it! I knew I'd just love to come and see your work as you draw forth. Thanks!
