Princess Ida.

Took a break from The Lady In Red today. For the last couple of years I've been asked by a local Musical Society to produce artwork for their forthcoming production. I usually get until the end of September to do it, but have been told it was expected last week. So in an effort to catch up, i have said I'll have the artwork by Monday evening. The story is basically about a Princess who is confined to a Ladies College where Men are denounced and are not permitted. A local prince is in love with the princess and so with the help of two friends, he plans to secretly get into the college and declare his love. Three creep over the wall and find clothes to disguise themselves as students.....

So I decided to illustrate the three friends peering over the wall. You can see the pencil sketches I have put down ready for ink and wash.The programmes you can see in the picture are from previous productions by the same company. Gilbert and Sullivan have never really been of interest to me..but both Jan and my father In law have been in the company on and off for many years.
