TLIR - Size does matter.

Tysonice asked me what the size of the current picture was. Well, check the comments of the previous post if you'd like to know the exact measurements. Otherwise, here is a close up shot to give you an idea of the scale ( I usually include shots like this for each piece I work on) sadly the resolution isn't great but at least it gives you an idea.

I'd be interested to know what concept of size you had when you saw this developing. It's something I hope to address in the near future when I have a go at oil painting and recreating the techniques Seurat used for his pictures..I can increase the scale of the work then.

Well, isn't it interesting? I'd not actually thouhgt of the picture size, however, now that you've told it and shown in scale I realize I had the idea it was twice as big. For me that makes your job be even greater, Niall.
I've talked about what you do to the lady who owns the art gallery where I teach some English classes. Then she asked me if your work could be compared to Seurat's and I said to her you called it hyperpointillism and that I, personally, compare it with a great painter whose pieces are sold there, although he paints chiefly oil pictures, his hyperrealism, which I adore for its expressiveness, is something very alike what I get from your pieces. She was in a hurry for a meeting after we talked, but this week I think I'll be able to show her your pictures. See, you got me really interested in showing your work to the people I like.
Have a very good week :)

I must say that this is smaller than I thought it was. I don't really know that I had a firm idea of what size it was, just that it was a little bigger.

I wonder if that man has noticed the giant hand next to him? LOL!

It's looking really great. I love the feeling of morning light in it.

Thanks for dropping by my blog. Do you know, I thought a sword might be a good motivational tool too! :)

I'm absolutely mesmerized by your work, especially how you are able to capture and reflect light. Your work is alive and vibrant!

Niall, I just had to ask a question. You make a million dots over a course of more than a hundred hours, so how do you know when you've made the last one to complete the picture? How do you realize when more dots would detract from the image rather than continue to enhance it? Is it artist's intuition? Could you write in your blog about the process of completion? Again, your work is truly amazing.
