Ball Of Wool - 30..back from the dead.

I'm back!...I must appologise for my 'no post' situation...it all happened a little too fast, but m,y computer has been poorly for some time and needed some 'Tender Loving care' ...however,radical surgery was prescribed and work began on Thursday evening. sadly the surgeon was (I'll have to be careful here in case he tunes in some day!) ..unable to complete the proceedure satisfactorally...so here i 'am back on my original ( but flawed ) configuaration. i'll try to give notice next time (which could be anytime!).

So, i'm nearing the end. Having been with this piece for over a month now, i shall be sad to see the end of it...I personally consider it to be one of my best pieces...but more about that another time. for now..I hope you'll forgive my absense....afterall..it is said it makes the heart grow fonder!

You're almost there and it's amazing.

Nessa...Thank you..it's been a most sublime experience! From the original concept, to the nearly finished work, i've felt that despite the ugly mug in the frame..i'm doing something that actually achieves what i set out to achieve!...I'll explain more when I get to the end.

There's a great effect in the painting right now, in the bottom left, it looks like you've put a coloured filter over one part and not the other. Cool :)

It's brilliant- the contrast, the illumination, the texture- and I don't usually like compositions that are so "centered" but it works here to great effect. I think it's the weight of that red, red ball and that excruciating tension in that short length to you fingers. It's really something, Niall!

And welcome back to the blogosphere.

:-) Glad you are back.Having something that doesn't function so well is better than having nothing at all!;-)

No doubt, it is coming out very well. I love the contast between the red wool and the blue sky and the way it changes colour to meet the horizon. I also love the illuminated trees, each glow like an idea growing on a branch.

I know what you mean by being sad because you're nearly finishing it. It happens to me when I read wonderful books...
Im glad your computer goes on. As I usually say to my son who longs for more modern stuff: it could be worse, dear.
Ball of wool is a great picture, Niall!

Wow, this picture is so impressive, especially with your blog showing how it's developed over the time you've been working on it. I look forward to hearing your 'closing comments' when it's finished.

DM...It does give that appearance doesn't it.

Julie..The tension is something that i'd not actually noticed..but it fits perfectly with the concept. i'm really glad you like it.!

PS...My PC is functional for now..(it's me that has the problems! hahha)

BK...you use some very pictoral metaphorical phrases..that's what got me into this at the begining!

Jonice...many a good tune is played on an old fiddle as they say!

Kimandanda...Stay tuned..that should be in the next day or two!
