Ripples - A time to relax.

I'm taking time out to relax today. After such a tense and stressful week I feel the need to take it easy. So I thought I'd post a video of my favourite band 'Genesis'. Taken from their 1976 album 'A Trick Of The Tail', it's a beautiful song called 'Ripples'. Blogger was unable to accomodate the embed request, so I've pasted the link here. I hope you like it..along with others, Genesis music would fearure in the 'Sound Track to my life' if there was one! Take a look..and I'll be back tomorrow with the latest on 'Corn'.

Ah, my Dad would've loved this. One of these days he was saying how Genesis lyrics were probably the only ones that meant anything and weren't ridiculous.
Personally, I'm not a fan.
But you deserve your rest, so relax!

Somehow, I started listening to it--but to be very honest, its just not my kind of music...so did not watch it fully.
But i went and looked up the lyrics.
Lyrics are better than the music in this one, according to me :-)
*******************************
Bluegirls come in every size
Some are wise and some otherwise,
They got pretty blue eyes.
For an hour a man may change
For an hour her face looks strange -
Looks strange, looks strange.

Marching to the promised land
Where the honey flows and takes you by the hand,
Pulls you down on your knees,
While youre down a pool appears.
The face in the water looks up,
And she shakes her head as if to say
That its the last time youll look like today.

Sail away, away
Ripples never come back.
Gone to the other side.
Sail away, away.

The face that launched a thousand ships
Is sinking fast, that happens you know,
The water gets below.
Seems not very long ago
Lovelier she was than any that I know.

Angels never know its time
To close the book and gracefully decline,
The song has found a tale.
My, what a jealous pool is she.
The face in the water looks up
She shakes her head as if to say
That the bluegirls have all gone away.

Sail away, away
Ripples never come back.
Theyve gone to the other side.
Look into the pool,
Ripples never come back,
Dive to the bottom and go to the top
To see where they have gone
Oh, theyve gone to the other side...

Sail away, away
Ripples never come back.
Gone to the other side.
Look into the pool,
The ripples never come back, come back,
Dive to the bottom and go to the top
To see where they have gone
Theyve gone to the other side
Ripples never come back
Sail away, away...

I'm sorry, I thought my comment was a little 'young'. But I'm sure my Dad is older than you. After all, he has a BIG kid (me!) :)
But yes that is Dad Rock - that and Dire Straits, which I hate :/

I don't like Dire Straits either. They're too middle of the road for me!..As I grew up at school, I got used even then too being a 'musical loner'..I was one of only two in my year who discovered Queen back in 1973!!in the good old days when Freddie Mercury wore Zandra Rhodes dresses and black nail polish. When Peter Gabriel wore a foxes head and a red dress..(um..I'm noticing a theme developing here!)

Thank you.
